My name is Denise, and I was born in a small town in New Zealand at the tail end of the 1960s. I left school for working life at quite a young age, married similarly young, and very much did what was expected of me.

In my forties, my life (previously very sedate and orderly) changed dramatically and I moved across the world. Since January 2020, I’ve been resident in the UK, living on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.

We are blessed with scenery here in Cornwall, as we are in New Zealand. I’ve had the privilege of experiencing life in two very beautiful parts of the world. I enjoy photography – to record memories of course, but also as a creative and artistic outlet – playing with light and colour.

I have a passon for anything crafty and creative. I flit from hobby to hobby, and have to have ALL the things for each new pursuit. Admittedly, this does sometimes result in quite a feeling of overwhelm!

I love the sea and struggle to walk on the beach without getting at least my feet wet. I feel calm and grounded in nature, and am likely found barefoot more often than most.

Family is incredibly important – our whanau is small but mighty. I am blessed with two wonderful adult children, their partners, and two precious grandchildren.

I am incredibly good at making plans and lists and wishing for things, and less good at putting the plans into action. I carry a hope that sharing some of those things with you here will make me more accountable.

Despite having had this page for a number of years, it’s only now (mid-2026!) that I’m making a real effort to flesh out the pages and start adding content.

Some of you may have found your way here through our pen pal correspondence. I’ve only recently re-discovered the joy of writing letters and I’m very glad I did. It is a lovely thing to be optimistic when the postman comes to call.

Thank you for being here.

Denise
