Golitha Falls is one of our go-to walks on an evening when we don’t have a lot of time. It’s close to home, and (depending on the path you choose) about as gentle and easy a walk as you can get.

It can be a bit busy this time of year, but it seems that Monday evenings are a good choice if you want to avoid the crowds.

We went up the hill to begin with and finished off with an amble alongside the river. We recently started on a goal to tick off as many items as possible from the book, 101 Tors, Rocks & Outcrops Around Bodmin Moor by Sheron Vowden. We also have Sheron’s book, 101 Squares Around Bodmin Moor. I’m sure there’ll be more to come on both of those as we get properly under way.

Loads of new sculptures and signs – this one of a dipper.

The mine shaft covers have generous spacing to allow roosting bats to come and go.
